Thin Ice (originally The Kicks) was a Santa Cruz band (1980-1982) that involved Tom Long (vox), Daniel Olmsted (guitar), Jim Schliestett (guitar), Shep Siegel (bass) and Theo Le Crook (drums).

The band wrote a Manifesto, which they all signed. In it, they vowed never to: dye their hair green, write songs about being on the road, join Devo, spill blood on stage, dub more than eight voices at a time, say "yeah baby, get down," cover a Billy Joel song, or support Mark Hammil, Billy Dee Williams, Carrie Fisher or Harrison Ford in future bids for political offices. The also vowed to respect groupies, but to charge a small health fee.
