Tao Rhythmical was essentially the rhythm section of Tao Chemical as led by drummer/percussionist Rick Walker. Rick was conversant in many different musical traditions, including reggae, Afro-pop, and Balinese gamelan, and Tao Rhythmical was undoubtedly one of the first "world beat" ensembles on the West Coast. Janet Ring, Jim Rutledge, Bill Walker, and Not Michael of Tao Chemical were also in this band along with saxophonist/keyboardist Andy Connell. The lead vocalist was Ishmael Huggins.
