Puppets

Puppets, sometimes called zombies, are the re-animated corpses of previous SCUM competitors scattered across the island, controlled by their BCUs.

Behavior

Puppets will meander aimlessly if left alone, moving hardly at all from their original position.

Upon sighting a player, they will make a roaring motion before running after the target, alerting other nearby puppets in the process.

Resources

Once killed, the body can be searched, dropping several articles of clothing that will yield Dirty Rags if cut up, and occasionally other miscellaneous items. The body can then be cut up into parts, several of which can be cut up further to yield uncooked Puppet Meat, Fat, and Bone.

1. New changes through patches to puppets have stopped players from being able to chop the bodies up for meat. The player is now required to either hunt or find other players for meat.

Strategies

Puppets cannot move through windows. If there is a nearby building with closed doors, get them to follow you to a window and jump through. You can then throw items from your inventory at them and pick these items back up from the vicinity inventory.

Puppets are attracted to sound. Therefore you can distract them and clear a path by throwing stones you picked up (or any throwable item). Be careful though, puppets can act unpredictable when this is done and will sometimes look back and see you.

Additional notes

• Listen for their growls, as it is a lot easier to hear if they've noticed you than to see them coming.

• Puppets can spawn indoors, even when cleared. Puppets spawn in the laying down position until prevoked, you can easily kill them with an arrow or bullet to the head in this position.
