Overview[ | ]
Combat boots, usually being made of either leather or rubber, offer great flexibility along with protection from the elements, making them a popular choice among many people even for day-to-day use.
The specific item in the game are black laced-up ankle boots with reddish soles, so far with no visual or technical variants.
Usability[ | ]
Unlike most other footwear in SCUM, combat boots offer a great deal of durability, making them less annoying for more careless players, or ones who tend to forget about maintnance of their inventory.
Their temperature impact is rather minimal, as it generally is with footwear. Furthermore, they appear to have slightly more water tolerance than their more civil counterparts, no wonder they are in large part used by people who work physically a lot.
Accesability[ | ]
Combat boots are not easy to come by. They usually spawn in military or industrial areas, with a minimal chance to appear elsewhere. They are surprisingly common as puppet loot, however that severely limits their utility as they are often found an stay in rather poor condition.
They can also be bought at the armory, although generally they aren't always considered worth the price.
Functions[ | ]
The main benefit of combat boots is the same one they share with military boots and one type of high-top shoes, known commonly as archer shoes. That benefit is the added storage space, enough to fit in, for example a knife, a common usage for them before the knife stache was added.
Otherwise, while they do not have any explicit special functions, they are generally better in most regards than other footwear, although they are a bit heavy, which can be a concern for weak or stealth-oriented characters.
